October Guest Speaker

For our upcoming October 21 General Meeting we welcome Speaker Kimberly Viney presenting “Future Vision for Botanical Gardens”. Kim joined Royal Botanical Gardens as Chief Operating Officer in January 2023 to assist the CEO with bringing RBG’s renewed vision to life. Kim is involved with RBG’s new strategic twenty-five year master plan along with overseeing RBG’s daily multi-faceted operations….

Announcing Scholarship Winners: 2024

We are announcing the successful recipients of the University Women’s Club of Oakville Scholarship Fund awards and scholarships for 2024. CFUW-Oakville is pleased to announce scholarships of $24 600 in total to help local students with their educational journey. These young women were selected from the city’s publicly funded high schools, based on high academic achievement, outstanding community service and demonstrated leadership.

Writing Support For Local Politician #endvawp

Oakville North-Burlington MP Pam Damoff shone a light on the issue of threats and abuse in politics. In May she announced she will not seek re-election and cited as factors the toxicity and incivility in politics. CFUW Oakville advanced our policy intention last year, specifically addressing the need to advocate for ending violence against women in politics. Pam had been a supportive resource as our advocacy team prepared that resolution.

Our May Dinner

A spring dinner is our tradition. On May 6 CFUW Oakville members gathered to socialize and enjoy musical entertainment at one big meeting that heralds the spring and summer. As members ate dinner at the Oakville Conference Centre, musical entertainment was provided by Valentyn Zadoianov and Irina Samarin of the Two Families Band.

A Successful Holiday Dinner

Our December 4th Holiday Dinner included socializing, a wonderful meal, and successful fundraising for our Scholarship Fund. See the slideshow and video below. The music was provided by The Two Families Band who were recently from Ukraine. Their music inspired guests to leave their seats and join an impromptu dance floor.
